Stift Wilten
Monastery Pin Wilthen was built in the 11th century, it is one of the oldest buildings in Austria. According to legend, a giant Haymon founded a monastery. Giant figure made of silver and gold, is still carefully preserved in the walls of the monastery. The monastery was built at the foot of the hill Berg Isel, the site of the old Roman fortress.
During World War II the monastery was almost completely wilt looted and destroyed. It was restored only by the end of the 20th century. Currently, the monastery is acting in its walls there are more than thirty monks. Surrounds the temple complex is a luxurious garden, ancient monuments and gravestones. In the abbey is a museum, which collects vintage robes and ritual utensils. Also famous monastery bells and a huge collection of gorgeous male chorus.
