The Main Square (Linz)

The main square in the city of Linz is the largest area in the whole of Austria. The first mention of this site date back to the year 1338. During its long history the area several times changed its name, and has been a silent witness to many important historical events. 

In the Middle Ages in its territory were pillory him chained to the citizens who have been sentenced to death. It also housed a pharmacy owned by a younger brother of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. At this historic site organized the fair, held meetings, wedding ceremonies.
